ABOUT LILLE ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT (LEM):
LEM is a research unit associating the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), the University of Lille and the Catholic University of Lille.
LEM comprises about 150 researchers and 100 doctoral students in economics, management and statistics.
Research at LEM is multi-disciplinary in economics and management and is centered on societal issues.
LEM is a young, internationally oriented and dynamic laboratory with a strong scientific ambition.

Job description :

The main objective of the PhD program/research project is to incorporate social relations and inequality into economic models, and to assess the effects of these factors on welfare and societal outcomes. The project will build on insights in decision theory and behavioral economics to improve on the modeling of the origins and implications of other-regarding preferences. The theoretical predictions will be tested using naturally occurring and experimental data.

The selected candidate will be working under the supervision of Prof. Thomas EPPER. The selected Ph.D. candidate will be part of iRisk (the IÉSEG Research Center on Risk and Uncertainty) (click here for more information) and the IÉSEG Economics and Quantitative Methods (EQM) department.

Profile / skills required

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for high-potential PhD students who are passionate about the research topic and meet the following criteria’s

  • A Master degree in economics.
  • Strong analytical skills and commitment to research excellence.
  • Familiarity with econometrics and programming (ideally, Python, R, Scilab, LaTeX).
  • Excellent command of written English.
  • Applicants should be committed to research excellence and to deliver high-quality research.
  • Ability to work effectively in team, travel and work under high-pressure
